The French cuff or the double cuff (depending on which country you grew up in) refers to the cuff on your shirt that extends further than the length of the arm which is then folded back upon itself. A cufflink is then used to keep the cuff in place instead of your standard button. Let’s trace the origin of the Double Cuff shirt back a bit in time. Not surprisingly the French take credit for this type of shirt hence it being know in some parts as a French Cuff…Legend has it that the Count of Monte-Cristo’s Baron Danglarsfirst wore a French Cuff that seemed to have started somewhat of a fashion revolution of the design kind. Even today and after following more than a century and a half, double cuffs are found on the highest quality business shirts. Double Cuffs allow the wearer to showcase their sense of styleindividualise with their favourite cufflinks and is the reason why all Amalfi Shirts have double cuffs. With multiple holes in your Amalfi Shirt cuff you can chose to wear different sleeve lengths depending on your arm’s length.
