How to match cufflinks with business shirts and ties

Cufflinks, ties, shirts, suits, belts and shoes… there’s a lot to coordinate, and the potential for a lot to go wrong. Here’s our selection of top tips to help you get a right.
- Leave the novelty cufflinks at home (eg Lego example above), along with the Daffy Duck novelty tie. The golden rule for cufflinks is they should be always be subtle and tasteful.
- Where possible match the metal part of your cufflink to the metal colour of your belt. For example if you have a silver belt buckle, then pick silver metal cufflinks.
- Black and silver are great combinations, alternatively try to stay with single colour palettes.
- Choose cufflinks that contrast the colour of your business shirt and match some element of your tie.
